Frequently Asked Questions

What is AcuCoaching?

AcuCoaching focuses entirely on YOU, offering the benefits of coaching and acupuncture to achieve our weight loss goals!

As your coach, I act as a partner, providing focus and feedback for your plans and objectives. I listen to you in a nonjudgmental way and ask you relevant questions. I help you sort through what you need to complete your weekly weight loss targets.

Acupuncture helps you by treating digestive issues, stress, cravings, fatigue and hormonal imbalances. As you work your way through the program, the weekly acupuncture boosts your mood, energy and metabolism.

How does the coaching part of the program work?

We will develop an ongoing relationship, based upon trust. I will provide new perspectives to give you the insight, and confidence to take life-affirming actions towards your goals. I will assist your ability to identify your obstacles and then overcome them.

Which goals are best suited to AcuCoaching?

You set the goals you want to achieve through AcuCoaching. I help you choose realistic goals and I will support you through any rough spots. As you start feeling healthier, you will also be making better decisions and focusing on what is important to you.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a gentle system that restores balance and harmony within the body and spirit.

What does acupuncture do to help cravings?

Acupuncture balances your natural feedback mechanism, which tells your brain that your stomach is full. It also manages stress levels and reduces "nervous" eating. Acupuncture has a long track record in successfully strengthening impulse control and is used by "stop smoking" programs and drug treatments centers alike.

How does acupuncture increase my metabolism and help me burn calories?

Acupuncture works on a cellular level to balance sluggish hormones and digestive enzymes, thereby helping the body to work more efficiently. It can increase the basal metabolic rate, which then burns your stored fat. Finally, just by helping you to feel better, your activity levels will naturally increase.

How will acupuncture help me stop eating when I'm tired and stressed out?

We often eat to give ourselves a boost of energy. This works for a few minutes, until insulin is released and we "crash" with exhaustion. Acupuncture can increase your energy levels naturally. It helps you sleep better and lowers stress levels through the production of endorphins, your body's natural opiates. Your appetite becomes more appropriate before meals and you feel satisfied for longer periods between meals.

How does acupuncture complement my coaching sessions?

Acupuncture can help to sharpen your focus and clarify your thinking. It can give you the energy to complete your targets and the motivation to explore new areas of growth. It can help you to dislodge negative emotions that might be holding you back. It can also provide you with a new level of self-confidence.

Do I really need both the coaching and the acupuncture together?

No, you can use either technique as a stand alone tool. The combination of the coaching and the acupuncture accelerates your progress and allows you to streamline your program, since you will be getting support on many levels at the same time. By the end of the three month program, you will have many tools to carry forward with you into your "new" life.

How is AcuCoaching different from therapy?

Therapy focuses on helping clients overcome past emotional problems that are interfering with their ability to fully function. Therapists invite their clients to revisit past events to resolve issues that have burdened them.

The AcuCoaching process focuses on you (the client) achieving your goals. I will be your partner and support you, as you complete your weekly targets. The focus is on the life you are working to create.

What will be expected of me?

I will encourage you to move along at a pace that is comfortable for you. We will set up a system of accountability. In the end, you will have control over the results you achieve in the AcuCoach Program because of your level of commitment to the process. As you set your weekly targets, you will be responsible for your own progress and that means you get all the credit for your success.
